New home

When I was taking the picture of our tree tonight I realized I never posted pictures of our new apartment that we moved into 4 months ago. Sorry.

Our little entryway leading to the living room. This room has so much untapped potential.

Living room. Area to the right with the drum is Micah’s office.

Living room again.

Dining room, looking into living room.

One of my favorite parts about this house, built-in China cabinet in the dining room.

Looking in one door to the kitchen (China cabinet in dining room to the right). Back door is straight ahead. To the right of back door is door to the basement, to the left is the pantry.

Other door into the kitchen. And awesome storage in the hallway. Love the little things like this because it is an old house. So practical.

Kitchen. Lots more counter space, and a sink, behind me I wasn’t able to capture. There is so much space in this kitchen I don’t know what to do with it.  We also have a pantry that isn’t shown to the left.

Hallway. Bathroom and then Master bedroom. Guest bedroom is the left of the brown shelf.

Small peak at the guest bedroom. It was sort of messy and had Christmas presents everywhere.

Master bedroom. Best thing is that we have two closets, hallelujah!

Our picture wall.

And last but not least, the creepy steps to our creepy basement where I have to do laundry. :( Landlord says we are getting a handrail soon, I’ll be thankful because I trip on a daily basis.

The end.

Hopefully I will get pictures of our Christmas decorations up before Valentine’s day, but don’t count on it.

Holiday Prep

The Lee home is almost in full Christmas mode. We have a small tree in our entry way, almost all Christmas gifts purchased, most decorations pulled up from the basement, and a list of goodies we are going to make. Now all we are waiting on is Thanksgiving. We have tried so hard to wait until after Thanksgiving to start decorating, and we have mostly held out. Other than a little music, a few movies, and our small tree we are doing well. We are excited about Thanksgiving though, don’t want you to think we are overlooking it completely. To be honest though,it just isn’t the same celebrating a holiday that is centered around eating with a lot of people when it is just two of us. Don’t worry though, we have plans.

Just the beginning. :)

Help, please?

Help! Pinterest is pushing me in to the Christmas spirit, not that I needed help, but while looking through the decoration ideas I realized a problem. I don’t have a mantle or staircase to decorate.

1) Where am I going to put our stockings?

2) Where will my Christmas village go?

3) 99% of the fabulous Christmas decoration ideas on Pinterest are for mantles.

4) Please help. And if it requires any of you to come to Boston to help, do so.

Pumpkins

We bought two pumpkins for carving this year. Thursday night at our Community Group we had fellowship time carving pumpkins and eating pumpkin goodies. Micah and I carved a Boston city skyline Thursday night.

Saturday before the game, that we won’t talk about, we carved a Clemson Tiger paw pumpkin

Our house all festive for Halloween Trick-or-Treaters

We haven’t had many trick-or-treaters tonight which is sad and unfortunate because we have a lot of candy. I also need to share that the boys I keep, M & O, are hamburgers tonight for Halloween. I wish I had a picture, but when mom and I were snapping a few pictures this afternoon when she got home from work I was too busy keeping them from eating snow to get a picture with my phone. You’ll have to imagine two adorable 1 year old boys dressed as hamburgers. It was precious!

Have a great week. And to all my mom and teacher friends, I’m sorry that you’ll have to deal with kids on sugar-highs tomorrow. :)

New Hampshire

Last weekend Micah and I got “out of the city” and headed to New Hampshire. We went hiking in the White Mountains, the Ripley Falls trail. We accidentally hiked some of the Appalachian Trail as well, ha.

The Falls

After a rainy hike in to see the falls

After we went hiking we stopped at Moulton Farms to get our carving pumpkins. Sadly I have no pictures from that. It was a fun little day getaway, just unfortunate that the weather did not corporate and it was rainy. We enjoyed it nonetheless!

The Recap

Wow. It has been over a month since I wrote a post. There have been many floating around in my head, but I never took the time to sit down and write them. I’m sorry.

To recap:

1. We made a kitchen cart out of an old filing cabinet.

2. My mom and grandma came to visit! They got here on a Tuesday and spent the whole week with us. On Wednesday they went to work with me, which was a blast. They were pretty smitten by the boys, but who wouldn’t be. M & O are adorable. Speaking of them, today when I got to work as soon as I walked in the door M came running up to me with his arms out ready for a hug.

Thursday and Friday we went in to the city. The weather wasn’t all that great, but thankfully the downpours held off for us!

On Saturday we went up to New Hampshire for seafood and apple picking, a first for me!

New Hampshire coast after we were all about 10 lbs heavier from lunch.

Apple picking!

3. About two weeks after they were here I went home for a Clemson game with my parents. I remember why I liked college so much, it was fun! It felt good to be back in Clemson for a game day. I was able to see my niece and some of my college roommates. My dad so graciously gave me his season ticket with my mom and he sat a little further back.

The next Clemson graduate, in twenty five years.

Reading the plaque for the first time since I graduated. Legend has if you read the plaque on Thomas Green Clemson’s statue you won’t graduate.

First game as an alumnus

Nothing like a Clemson colored sunset on Lake Hartwell.

4. Our couch came. We ordered said couch back in August, which some of you might remember, but last Friday it arrived!

Sorry for the lousy picture, it was taken with my phone. The couch is a chocolate brown and since this picture we have bought red pillows to go behind the other decorative ones.

5. Micah has a fun Saturday planned for us this weekend,  so you have to come back because I’m sure you won’t sleep until you find out what we did.

My Tigers

Because I couldn’t be with my tigers today I decided to reflect back on the many years I was with them.

Freshman year at Clemson.
My picture with the chubby cubby, a personal friend and relative.

My first picture with the “Rock”

Sophomore year; last time I saw Clemson beat South Carolina as a student.

And Ashley came to a game!

Junior year; the year of the rain.

Also from that year, beating FSU at home. One of the greatest memories I have from college.

Senior year; last Clemson game as a student

Two of my fabulous roomies (Alex and Bethani)

On the field for the last time, with Caroline

And a few of these for good measure.

Yes, I’m wearing purple leggings. It was COLD!

Greatest college memories happened here…

Preparing for Irene

Mama and Daddy, this is for you. I told you we were prepared.

Window units are well, not in the windows.

Irreplaceable and non-water resistant items are out of the basement.

We bought water…

And more water…

And more water….

We have our flashlights and batteries ready.

Not to mention we moved our cars so that they aren’t under trees and at highest elevation we could find on our street. We also tied down the grill and trashcans. Sorry no pictures for those, it’s raining and all…

Hopefully there won’t be anything interesting to post after Irene. As for the weather, the wind is blowing in random gusts and it is raining, but not very hard. Now it’s time for a big breakfast before we lose power.

As of late

We bought a couch! The days of the college futon are coming to an end. We started talking about getting a couch shortly after we decided to move. We looked at different places, but finally settled on the “Maggie” at Bob’s. I present to you Maggie, the newest member of the Lee household.

We spent our Saturday morning visiting a couple of different furniture places until we found a couch within our budget that we liked. We actually bought it in New Hampshire because they are tax free, and we found a Cracker Barrel on the way to Nashua so it just all worked out!

This deserves its own paragraph: Cracker Barrel is a southerner’s saving grace here.

After we got back from couch shopping we finally got around to hanging pictures and decorations around the apartment. I hope to take pictures this weekend of the finished product. I know you are anxious to see!

Fun things about work. Yesterday we were outside on the back porch and M heard the train in the distance and went running to the direction it was coming from and said “choo!” Every time he heard the train he did the same thing. M has also discovered how to dance, cracks me up every time. O loves Thomas the Train. We watch about 10 minutes of it every day during transition time before afternoon naps and when I turn it off he just stands there wondering where Thomas went.

Speaking of M & O they are stirring, time to go!

Hello from Charlotte

I was doing so well about blogging, and then we moved and our life got pretty boring. The past few weeks our life has pretty much revolved around work and getting settled in to your apartment. I would upload some pictures from my phone as a sort of recap but we are currently sitting in the Charlotte airport and I don’t have my cord to upload pictures, so instead I’ll make a list.

- We finished painting the dining room and the red looks amazing. Pictures to come soon, once we get decorations hung in the apartment.

- We bought a grill. We have only grilled hotdogs, but if the weather cooperates we are definitely expanding our menu options this week.

- We finally got to meet our niece Addie and she is so adorable. She is almost three months old and pictures just don’t do her justice. She will be sorely missed between now and Christmas.

- My mom and grandmother are officially coming to see us in September. Just a little over a month!

- I’ll finish my third seminary class on Friday and start my next on Monday. I have enjoyed this Old Testament class so much more than I expected. Next I am taking a class on Psalms. Never studied the Psalms in depth, so I am excited.

I think that is all that has really happened the past few weeks, and it is time to go find dinner. So goodbye from Charlotte.
